Brian Barrie graduated from Royal Military College and after serving in the military, pursued and received a Masters degree in English at the University of New Brunswick, specializing in Canadian Literature and later a law degree from Queens University, in Kingston. He married his wife, Helen, whom he met at RMC and they have been inseparable, ever since. He pursued a successful trial practice in Owen Sound and Helen was a specialist in her own right: a nurse; a mother and the glue that made it all work.

Their best investment remains their three wonderful and talented children, the spouses their children chose and the gift of six grandchildren. Despite a busy law practice, Brian was forever captivated by the innocence and energy of children, publishing three Children’s Books between 2007 and 2011, at the urging of their children – stories he created for their bedtime listening, when they wanted to hear something different than the conventional fairy tale. With his retirement, Brian has continued with his storytelling with the publication of the L.I.E and he is working on his first novel and his second music album, in conjunction with his singer, songwriter son- Morgan x Barrie. Brian celebrates his long-standing alliance with his illustrator, Bonnie Johnson deMatteis as well as the opportunity to live with his wife in Red Bay Ontario, on the shores of Lake Huron, where the lessons of nature come easily.
